Interested in learning more about substance use in an environment where you can discuss and debrief? Starting on Wednesday, November 17 at 6:30 p.m., join Easton Wings of Hope and Ames Free Library on Zoom for book clubs surrounding the prevention of youth substance use. Meetings will take place every other Wednesday, through December 29.
Our first book discussion will be on a young adult adaptation of Dreamland by Sam Quinones. From the rise of OxyContin to the paralleled influx of black tar heroin, Dreamland tells the story of America’s opiate epidemic through the lives of young people. Our first meeting will be on Part 1: The Pills.
Parents and teens are encouraged to go through this book together in an effort to open up the discussion surrounding opiate use – and the true hidden impact it continues to have on young Americans. To obtain a copy of this book, you can use the above link to place a hold, download the eBook from Overdrive or Libby, or contact the Ames Free Library staff at [email protected] or 508-238-2000, ext. 3.
Parents and teens are encouraged to come together; anyone is welcome! For more information, contact Easton Wings of Hope at: [email protected].
